Southeast Training Director

Jean-Louis Gomes was born in Dakar, Senegal in West Africa and with his Cape Verdean national heritage he fluently speaks French and Creole.

Jean-Louis has been a member of the Western Shelter Systems team since 2008. As one of our newest team members he brings with him vast knowledge and experience from his years as Director of EMS at one of the largest Army installations.

With over 21 years of federal service, Jean-Louis has a broad-base of experience in the medical, disaster preparedness and emergency response fields. He has deployed to several disasters, including Hurricane Katrina and Ike as a member of the NC-1 DMAT, the National Medical Response Team-East and North Carolina SMAT.

Jean-Louis has had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience on Western Shelter’s core products, services, and training. He is highly regarded for the trainings he conducts because of his extensive knowledge and confidence in presenting the didactic, technical and practical aspects of multiple training courses as a Technical Specialist/Certified Trainer.

Sales Director, Southeast USA & Latin America

Since JJ joined Western Shelter Systems in 2005, he has had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the company’s core products, field deployments, customer training, and in the industry as a whole.  He graduated from the University of Oregon in 2005 with degrees in both Business Administration and Spanish.  With his bilingual skills and multi-national heritage, JJ offers a great talent for developing relationships with partners and customers.  JJ shares the common vision held throughout the company: to continually strive towards offering higher levels of service, training, and quality products.

Sales Director, Northeast

Michael Ottaway has a broad-based history in the medical and disaster preparedness field.  He has experience in the areas of municipal Firefighting/EMS, Academic Clinical Research, Flight Paramedic, and Regional Disaster Preparedness.  He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, as well as various other certifications.  He has disaster deployment familiarity, including involvement with WTC 9/11 and Katrina disasters.

Sales Director, West

Scott Gray has been a member of the Western Shelter Systems sales team since late 2006. Even though he is one of the newer members of the sales team, Scott’s confidence in communicating both technical and practical applications of our offerings makes him a valued member of the team.  Currently, Scott is responsible for sales and customer support for the western and much of the middle United States.

Director of Commercial Sales

Tim Myhre has been involved with the design and supply of remote man-camp equipment and facilities since the late 70’s. Originating many technologies and logistical criteria still in use today, he has provided and installed facilities throughout the world for resource companies, governments, military groups and relief agencies. His recent decade of experience with mobile decontamination systems and corporate disaster preparedness combined with his camp facility background allows Western Shelter Systems to offer you the very latest technologies for remote site and/or emergency camp facilities specific to your requirements.

Director of Military Sales

As the Director of Sales, Paul Silva leads the entire sales force at Western Shelter Systems.  Paul’s broad-based experience in firefighting equipment, base- of-operations, and disaster response provides the “know to grow” approach he takes with each member of our organization.  A skillful businessman, methodical practitioner, and a no-nonsense leader, Paul directs his sales team with a focus on integrity, service, product reliability, and hands-on field support.  On the ground during Katrina, Rita, and other disasters, Paul has gathered invaluable insight and perspective of our products through the eyes of those we serve.  He believes that relationships last when products perform as promised and the customer believes that their best interests are being served.  From training to product development, product design to customer support, Paul Silva leads with the professionalism and passion he demands of his team.

Marketing and International Sales Director

Peter Powell is Marketing and International Sales Director for Western Shelter Systems.  He has been selling and developing distributorships internationally since 1992.  He has been directing industrial and consumer marketing since 1973.
